slow mortgage offers

mortgage express who i use quite often for my mortgages seemed to have slowed to a halt these last few weeks.
I have a few deals going through that are waiting on mortgage offers from mortgage express. they normally are quite fast in making their offers and can normally get them out in a week from them recieving the valuation.

my broker tells me that they have been flooded with mortgage applications lately and that they are about 3 days behind. so is that 3 days behind the week that they are already behind? i think that the sudden surge of mortgage applications may be because of the recent rates rise. people are trying to get their fixed rate deals in before mortgage express up there lending rates to reflect the hike in the base rate.

it also doesn’t help that my solicitor is on holiday too. but i suppose without mortgage offers she cannot do anything with my purchases.

mortgage express are part of bradford and bingley and i think they have a very large percentage of the buy to let mortgage market.
